The famous windmills are all that’s left of Mykonos’ grain industry, powered by the island’s strong meltemi winds. The five windmills above Little Venice, where colourful houses hover on the water’s edge, are the most popular spot to watch the sunset.

Delos, an entire island scattered with the remains of ancient Greek temples, houses, streets, and statues. You’ll never forget the sight of this floating world heritage site from the window seat of one of our planes.

BEST BEACHES

All along the rocky coastline are stunning beaches, home to some of the world’s hottest beach bars. Big spenders party at Psarou or Paranga. The gay crowd flex their pecs at Super Paradise or Elia. While the gypset dance the sunset away at Ftelia, Kalo Livadi, or Agrari. For a chill beach day, head to Agios Sostis, Lia or Fokos. Travelling with kids? Book a sunbed at Kalo Livadi, Ornos, or Platis Gialos. 

EAT & DRINK

Not much grows on this barren island. But local farmers still produce louza, delicious pork tenderloin cured with local herbs, and kopanisti, a soft cheese with a spicy kick. Best enjoyed on a barley rusk topped with grated tomato and a glass of ouzo on the rocks. 

LOCAL SECRET

The Armenistis lighthouse, on a hilltop near Fanari, has sweeping views of the island and across the choppy straits to neighbouring Tinos island. A magical spot to admire the sunset without the crowds.
